The concepts of meaning and purpose are fundamental to Life. Meaning and purpose reflect upon the ancient Hindu concept of Kama Manas which states that with every thought there is an emotion and with every emotion a thought. This simple concept is rooted in common sense. You can't have one without the other no matter how hard you try. By simply saying you don't have any feelings towards a particular situation is clear admittance that you do. Stating that you don't have any feeling towards anything is itself an admission to feeling nothing at all. Catch 22.
This simple paradox conjures up the realization that anything we think of, or have feelings about, are intimately connected to this inescapable fact. In other words, no matter what we know or believe about the concept of consciousness our thoughts and emotions will always be mysteriously linked. In Life however, we actually act and respond in a unified fashion. Every choice we make will naturally take into account how we think and feel about a certain situation or circumstance. Duality is an integral part of who we are and how we perceive the world and reality.
There is however a major factor missing in this simple relationship, which is that of the context in which our observations and perceptions are made. The concept of meaning and purpose have no meaning or purpose if they're not placed into a context where they can be purposely and meaningfully contemplated.
Every observation and is made within circumstances, that are always changing. What we bring to every circumstance requires we make a choice and it is by this choice that we move forward. This pattern is deeply hard wired in our consciousness and fundamental to the dualistic framework from which we view the world.
The dynamic created between what might first appear to be opposing positions/stands/states are actually two distinct POV stemming from the same source ... and that's you. In reference to design, the concepts of meaning and purpose don't take opposing positions, rather they complement each other so that the observer/creator can advance, evolve and progress through awareness. Meaning and purpose, i.e. design, embrace progress and are key in the evolution of the species.
We progress through Life by virtue of the many dynamic relationships we've created over time. Together they reflect upon of all we've experienced. Together they share in the fabrication of all we perceive to be real. Time and space create the framework, i.e. context needed, to creating these realities.

In fact, our reality reaches far beyond what we've come to know or told to believe. The most obvious example rests in the unconscious - and reality of dreamtime. This point of view along with the many realities it embraces, is entirely personal and truly unique. We are the ones that create the links between the many "senses" of consciousness by design.

Design is at the root of all that can be created, interpreted, learned, discovered and experienced. Design is made apparent to all humanity by means of its usage of signs, symbols and metaphor. This concept is simply expressed in the English spelling of Design including the many other derivations of the word , e.g. designation, signal, significant, insignificant, ensign, signed, signaled, signaling, signaled, signals, signature, significance, signified, signing ...
sign1 a sign of affection: indication, signal, symptom, pointer, suggestion, intimation, mark, manifestation, demonstration, token, evidence; literary sigil.2 a sign of things to come: portent, omen, warning, forewarning, augury, presage, danger sign; promise, threat.3 at his sign the soldiers followed: gesture, signal, wave, gesticulation, cue, nod.4 he read the sign on the wall: notice, signpost, signboard, warning sign, road sign, traffic sign, guidepost, marquee.5 the dancers were daubed with signs: symbol, mark, cipher, letter, character, figure, hieroglyph, ideogram, rune, emblem, device, logo. The concept of design is rooted in who we are. We implicitly know that we have a meaning and a purpose to our Life. We typically spend a lifetime searching for what our purpose is and what it means. By the virtue of evolution we've come to learn that much of what we believe to be true has been purposely hidden, or lost by means of the lack of awareness. Who we/you are is purposely and meaningfully expressed in all we/you do, say, think, and feel.
Consciousness itself is the product of a Design process that is changing our concept of reality before our very eyes, every day and more importantly every instant.

A meaningful gesture often precedes a purposeful one. New information is absorbed subconsciously and symbolically. An observer is at the core of every point of view. At initiation the dynamics established between these impressions depends upon the view of an observer where all impressions are subconsciously internalized, measured and categorized.
Humanity is intellectually, emotionally and physically affected by the relationship between what is being observed and the context in which these observations are made and interpreted. For the most part these impressions are typically "felt" and rarely true.

All systems of symbolic enterprise (design) are meant to bring a particular meaning, purpose and if lucky, a certain degree of human reasoning to an unknowing mystery that overwhelms description.
Design permeates all that can be known in addition to that which is unknown through signs, symbols, metaphor and analogy. Our concepts of reality are founded upon a human interpretation of events and experiences perceived, interpreted and acted upon. When observed in unison they create an all inclusive field of symbolic correspondences. Correspondences create the links between threads of awareness by virtue of symbolic representation, i.e. a designed consciousness. See Fractals
Forces, i.e. impressions, can be both meaningful and purposeful. They are intuitively felt, intellectually cognized and emotionally dependent upon personal decisions made upon reflection. However, signs along with their symbolic counterparts, don't always communicate with the same degree of intensity. Every interpretation harbors an intuitive response. Every sign is interpreted differently. Signs don't entirely communicate the emotional impact common to many correspondences. Symbols do.

If you so choose, your journey will embrace many signs, many directions, many teachers and an abundance of data to support and guide you along the way. You are a designer in the midst of a design process meant to create a reality for yourself in collaboration with others. You/we cannot design alone, we all need to create within a common context we all share. Human know thyself.
"Working from the idea of a universe of flowing energy lines, we looked for a single building block for the flowing energy. If we could find and define such a thing, we hoped we could use it to accurately make predictions about the universe at the largest and tiniest scales.
There were many building blocks to choose from mathematically, but we sought one that had the features of both the particle and wave—concentrated like the particle but also spread out over space and time like the wave. The answer was a building block that looks like a concentration of energy—kind of like a star—having energy that is highest at the center and that gets smaller farther away from the center.
Much to our surprise, we discovered that there were only a limited number of ways to describe a concentration of energy that flows. Of those, we found just one that works in accordance with our mathematical definition of flow. We named it a fragment of energy"
"Our initial work demonstrated how a new building block is capable of accurately modeling bodies from the enormous to the minuscule. Where particles and waves break down, the fragment of energy building block held strong. The fragment could be a single potentially universal building block from which to model reality mathematically—and update the way people think about the building blocks of the universe."
Larry M. Silverberg, Jeffrey Eischen
Meaning and purpose are at Life's core. Both participate in a what might collectively be described as a stream of Consciousness. The Life stream like every flow of energy, is forever changing and adapting to and within the context in which is observed. Energy responds to the context in which is is observed.
One might assume that every stream of energy originates from a single source or, the result of a relationship/correspondence of two or more re-sources. The fact of the matter is, the context in which both options might be interpreted still requires an observer of the whole event/experience. A singularity (1) can be realized both as result of a dynamic relationship between differing impressions/frequencies, ex. male/female (2), or if observed "out of context" to appear whole and "unto itself". The two become like one. All "forms" of origin/awareness unify about a single pointed consciousness, i.e. a center, a focus, a point of balance, a singularity, a common designer/observer.
Space and time are conceptual in origin. Together they create the two fields (duality), i.e. context, in which human observations and interpretations of reality are made apparent. Together they are meant to appear real for referential purposes only. They appear as allusions in reference to the identity of the original source, i.e. observer/designer.
References are required for the expansion and perpetuation of consciousness by means of observation. By most standards both contexts take on the the qualities of a field in which contrasts can be made solely for purpose of creating the necessary dynamics necessary to instill the drive towards creativity, growth and expansion. This is one of the primary reasons behind duality.
From within the electric forces of the universe are generated a wide variety of sequential energy fields/contexts that together bring energy/light and information to a particular set of characteristics. Every system/matrix and network can likewise be fragmented into attributes that together unite to make each conscious/contextual field unique in its shape and form.
Design and Consciousness transcend each other.
