Connectivity

Conceptual impressions surrounding this post are yet to be substantiated, corroborated, confirmed or woven into a larger argument or network.

By design we are connected to all things great and small. By design we are linked to all things known and unknown. By design we are allied to a mystery that both surrounds and permeates our being; an unknown energy in a perpetual state of flux presented before our awareness by design.

“Quantum mechanics has established the primacy of the inseparable whole. For this reason the basis of the new biophysics must be the insight into the fundamental interconnectedness within the organism as well as between organisms, and that of the organism with the environment.”
Marco Bischof

Our being is but a part of that which includes and connects all being. Design is the method and the process by which all things are linked. Separation is merely an illusion. Nothing and no thing can exist without design.

By nature our mind and our emotions can condition us into believing that we are separate from Being. This is the fundamental purpose of the ego. Likewise, our mind and our emotions can likewise lead us into believing that we are an integral part of the same. Both scenarios give structure to an illusion while revealing an important aspect of the truth. Without an apparent disparity between opposites truth could not be revealed.

Consequently, it is the desire to discover an underlying balance between differences that can bring certain truths to our awareness. Design is instrumental in revealing these differences to our consciousness through symbolic interpretation. Design is neutral in expression and reflective in its interpretation. There is no true “objectivity” when it comes to understanding design.

Design implies that there will always be an element of inequality in every situation and that a certain degree of balance found in one circumstance will account for an imbalance in another. In actuality true balance is not achievable, nor should it be expected. Rather the act of “balancing” is more descriptive of the design process. The capacity to adapt, respond and give preference to the most appropriate situation is fundamental to discovering harmony between elements.

Design is focused in the moment, i.e. the now. By giving precedence to relationships that give priority to the whole a design spreads the meaning and purpose that surrounds its function. Design’s strength is its capacity to amend its meaning by endlessly adjusting and transforming itself. By nature the design process is evolutionary. Design's strength rests in its capacity to bring into fruition relationships determined to attain wholeness through a quest for balance and harmony. This phenomenon appears as an event or an experience made apparent in an ever changing now. Simply put the design process re-presents a most challenging balancing act.
