An Exercise in Awareness

We will never agree upon a final solution, or acquire a full understanding of consciousness. Consciousness is a wicked problem that is somewhat easier to describe than to define. So rather than attempting to define consciousness, it might better to try and describe it. Yet the problem still remains due to the fact that consciousness means different things to different people. At what point would we know that we’ve conclusively described consciousness? Unfortunately, consciousness cannot be entirely portrayed because it is not a thing or state of being, but a work in progress that is in constant flux.

We usually avoid such incongruent issues because we know there are no decisive answers to be found. Obviously consciousness is not a simple problem. So rather than trying to describe or define the nature of consciousness, it seems more reasonable to accept it for what it appears to be, i.e. an exercise in awareness.
